Up-cut endmills direct woodchips up and away from the milling area leaving an unobstructed path for the endmill. Bit breakage is less likely. Up cut end mills are the best choice for most standard millling applications. The up cut direction can leave behind a minimally rough top surface edge.

Pros: Quick and efficient milling, chip removal.
Cons: Can cause minimal top surface edge roughness or tear-away.
(Choose a down cut spiral bit for projects that require smooth top surface edges.)

I only did a couple quick passes with this bit to see how it worked.

That is how it worked.
I will be doing some delicate routing on guitar necks and bodies so I can either fill the slot with colored epoxy, or thin wood pieces.
The practice grooves turned out well. I did some in white pine, walnut, and ebony. It worked on all woods.
Go slow as it is a skinny bit!

I bought this bit for usage in my Dewalt trim router which is mounted to a Genmitsu 4040 cnc. I am pretty happy with the results of this bit. Its high quality and very thin (1/16"). This thinness allows me to precisely cut out parts using CNC. If your looking at doing similar milling procedures with a small profile bit this is a great option. The down cut is nice because it prevents chipout on the top piece which is great for preserving pattern you are cutting. Overall its a great bit that I would buy again!
