Flutes: 3 Down cut endmills shear in a downward direction causing the uppermost layer of the material to be pressed down against the material just below it. This motion leaves a perfectly clean top surface edge. A concentration of wood chips in the work path will occur. Hose away excess wood chips to prevent bit breakage.
Pros: Prevents top surface edge chipping and tear-away.
Cons: Less than optimal chip removal when dadoing or plunging. (Choose an up cut spiral bit for standard more efficient milling.)For use in CNC milling and carving machines.

So far so good. Did a test/draft on 1/2in plywood using a CNC machinge. Love that its a 1/4 in shank. As far as the coating...I am cutting wood with this bit and not metal. This is a great bit for the cost. There was no tear out on the plywood, so I am certain it will work on all other woods. I am not a CNC expert by no means, but this will be my GO TO 1/8 bit from now on due to the 1/4 in Shank. My other 1/8in bit with 1/8in Shank snapped. Maybe my speeds and feeds were off, but this bit is def. stronger. Recommend.
