Easy setup finger joint router bits take the hassle and frustration out of setting up a properly aligned finger joint. A standard finger joint bit has a cutting height center that is difficult to locate and align with the stock. We have designed the top edge of the center tooth to be perfectly horizontal thereby enabling you to use the corner of that tooth as the center reference point. The difference is subtle but very effective. By lining up that point with the center of your stock you will have a perfect setup every time regardless of the thickness of your stock.

This Easy-Setup finger joint router bit can cut finger joints from 3/8" up to 1-1/2" thick. The overall length is 3-9/16" and the shank is 1/2".

Used to cut grooves in stair landing treads to join with oak strip flooring

I used this bit for beech, mahogany, purple heart and paduak and got good results. I think that it's limited to what you can do with a skinny shank pushing through hard material, but I got good joints using this on my makita 1.25 hp router with the This 7/16" guide bushing on a leigh D4 dovetail jig. one requirement that may not be obvious to all is that if you are cutting a tail in a thin drawer side with no backer, you'll get bad results on hard woods because the board and the bit will chatter (out of sync I think - compounding the problem). Anyway - if you are limited to a 1/4 in shank because of your router or guide bushing diameter, this bit is decent with the right precautions

I bought this bit for my router table to cut biscuits in a table top build out. It cuts true, clean, and quick. Highly recommended.
